Will using wart treatment (20% salicylic acid) damage my skin if I use it for acne?
I’m trying to come up with a new treatment for acne, since the old stuff I’ve been using is starting to not work as well. I’ve tried proactiv, evoclin, retin-a, Duac gel, Doxycicline, and tons of over the counter stuff. Some things have worked, just their effects are starting to wear off. Would using a 20% salicylic acid wart treatment (liquid) just on acne pimples, not the whole skin damage my skin greatly? I just need something a little bit stronger than the over the counter stuff, but I dont have the money to go in for facial peels or proffessional treatments.
To those who say it will overdry-I’m only spot treating it. I know that obviously putting the stuff on my entire face might even kill me. hmm does anyone know where they might have it in 3-10%? 1 or 2% just is way too gentle.

I definately wouldn’t try it on acne, I’ve used 4.5% salicylic acid on my skin which isn’t ultra sensitive and it started peeling. I start off with maybe 1-2%
20% is way to strong for acne and can make it even worst by overdrying it, which then causes your skin to produce more oil. Differin, is a prescription topical treatment and works wonders. See your doctor to get a prescription. Differin is very gentle and has worked very well for me.
Acne sucks! I’ve been using a treatment for a year now and so far it’s the only one that’s worked good for me. I’m almost free from acne now! I highly recommend it.
I would say to use acne products for acne and wart treatments for warts.
