A wart (also called a verruca) is caused by a viral infection. There are many different kinds of warts and the longer you wait to treat them they longer it will take to get them to resolve. They are contagious are can be contracted through skin on skin contact, so yes you could definitely catch them. So you sister can even spread them to other parts of her body. Advise your sister not to scratch or pick them because that will also encourage new warts to form. There are a few treatment options. Over the counter wart remover (which can take a long time and doesn’t promise great results), or if you go to your doctor, or dermatologist and they can pick one of the many treatments available. This is your sisters best bet, the doctors have access to things that will make her treatment much faster. I work in dermatology and I see people that wait to long for treatment of their warts and it is so much harder to get rid of them and might require more treatments.
viruses, not hpv, but other types and they can spread and need removal down to root. liq nitrogen in doc office will work as well as Dr. Scholls, Freeze Away if used right.
