What causes genital warts to come back?

I had them about 6 years ago and had them removed. Now I think they’re coming back! I’ve had a lot of itching and there a couple of bumps. I’m really stressed and depressed about it. Why do they come back?

It’s a virus. As such, you always have it, even if it doesn’t come back very often.
