Should duct tape wart removal be painful?

I’ve heard that duct tape works really well for wart removal, but from what I’ve read it’s supposed to be painless.
Well, I’ve been trying this for about four days now and mine hurts like…well like something not very nice. It’s kind of a needle-like stabbing pain, if that helps. Also, I’m not sure if these little demon tumors on my toes are warts at all. I think they’re spawn of the devil.
Anyway, anyone have some advice?

My husband did this, he said it hurt a little but you have to make sure you leave it on long enough. I think he left the duct tape on almost a week.

go to the store and buys some Compound W wart remover.
Compound W is for the treatment of common warts and verrucae. Common warts have a thick cauliflower-like surface. Verrucas occur on the sole of the foot and may be covered in hard skin.

Do not apply Compound W to healthy skin or skin which is inflamed or broken. If it comes into contact with healthy skin, wash it off immediately with plenty of water. Avoid contact with the eyes and mouth.
Not to be used on children under 6 years except under medical advice. Replace cap tightly after use.
You should not use this medicine after the expiry date which appears on the label.
