You are NOT a worry wart! You are a concerned parent with a child who seems to be exhibiting some signs of an Autism Spectrum Disorder. If I were you I would take the child to the pediatrician and ask for a referral to a neurologist or child psychiatrist. This is the only way to know if your son has a developmental issue. Some of his symptoms "could" point towards Autism Spectrum, but only a specialist can tell you for sure.
When my son with Aspergers was three he was fixated on trains, trains were the ONLY things he wanted to talk about. He had NO social skills and never played with anyone his age. He only related to his teachers, he had no interest in the other children. His speech was so advanced for his age we thought he was gifted. (He asked to have his sandwiches cut "diagonally") He was also a very sweet and polite child who was (and still is) very sensitive and anxious. He was diagnosed at age 5, when he went to kindergarten.
It’s really hard to say (when no one on here knows your son or has observed what he’s like). I suggest you take him to your GP and describe the same symptoms to him/her. Even if he isn’t autistic at least you can relax knowing that you got good advice from a professional.
sounds like he could have some of those tendencies, you should take him to the doc and they can do tests. You know he could just like firetrucks. I still don’t play well with others. Could be nothing but a doctor can tell you for sure.
since we dont know your osn and have never been around him its hard for us to tell.
i would suggest taking him to his pediatrician
possibly yeah, autism is a spectrum, where theres mild cases and severe. theres a program called ECI early childhood intervention, where someone can comeout and evalutate him and then give him therapy, i think its pretty cheap too, depending on income.
if i were u id look into getting it checked out, because if he is, he might need xtra help with learning, and need special therapy.
autism is a very complicated disorder, those are signs of autism but they are also very common in other "normal" toddlers, when i was 3 i had a huge speech impairment and had to get speech therapy for five years, but thats just because i a muscle deficiency in my tongue, my friends little sister only walks on her toes, but thats just because thats the way she likes to walk, she thinks it feels cool. my cousin only talks about firetrucks, because he just really loves firetrucks, toddlers like to fixate on things naturally. my other cousin doesnt play well with children, i mean what 3 year old is good at sharing. none of these children have autism, theyre just different. i think that you should just watch him carefully, keep an eye on these things, and if you feel they are starting to become an issue, then have him tested.
