I just found out thru a doctor visit that I have a wart caused by the HPV virus. What causes this and should I let my sex partner know? I am going to get it removed but was wanting to know if there are any other "options" for home removal. (creams or OTC meds)

Genital warts are caused by the human papilloma virus.
All warts on the body are of a human papilloma virus type.
Genital warts are most commonly transmitted through vaginal and anal sex from an infected sex partner. The virus may also be transmitted during oral and hand to genital sex. The person that shared his/her virus with you may not have had a wart. Many people have the virus with no visible external warts or cell changes of the cervix.
Over the counter meds should not be used on the genital area.
Don’t try to treat genital warts with over-the-counter medications. These medications aren’t intended for use in the moist tissues of the genital area. Using over-the-counter medications for this purpose can cause even more pain and irritation

Do NOT use over-the counter remedies meant for other kinds of warts

Don’t try any home remedies or over-the-counter drugs to remove warts on the genital area. You could hurt your genital area by putting certain chemicals on it.

Tell you sex partner that you have been diagnosed with the virus she most probably now shares your infection.
Did your doctornot tell you anything about them? unfortunately they do come back and they may come back with more then one. most people have "flare ups" and there are some home treatments but i dont know if any really work. My friend went through this and one doctor told him that it never goes away and theres no cure, but others say with time and a healthy lifestyle (no smoking ect) they will go away in 2+ years.. i dont know how true ether are.
you should telll yor partner becuase she can get them throu contact but she will be on the worst end becuase HPV in women cuases cancer.. please tell her and look up solutions.
best of luck.
