How do I remove a wart from dog's head?

My dog has this huge wart on her head. I had the vet check it out and it is common for older dogs and harmless, but since it has started to get much bigger, she reccommended removing it. However, the procedure is really expensive. Can I use over the counter wart remover on my dog or is their anything I can do to safetly remove it myself?

Nope. Over the counter wart medicine will still cost you, and not be very effective. You will be paying for nothing essentially. It also is extremely painful if you get it on other areas – it’s basically an acid eating that tissue. I have heard that duct tape is a great wart remover – and basically free if it doesn’t work! Cut a tiny circle and put it on the wart. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn’t, but worth trying!
Have the vet do it!
you would rather get advice from someone you don’t know then ask the vet?
don’t risk your dog’s health by experimentation. since it is not dangerous leave it alone until your vet can give you the right advice or you can afford to get it done professionally.
No – you need a vet for this.
don’t be cruel to your dog, if you don’t know what you are doing it’s best to pay to get it removed. How expensive can a wart being removed really cost? Ask the vet to use a local anesthetic instead of putting your pet under.
I have never tried or heard anything about home wart removers for dogs, but I really think your vet should do it- it may need to be biopsied, especially if it’s growing aggressively. Even if it just needs to come off, it really is a job for a pro!
You can try wart remover from the store that humans use if you are sure it is a wart.
You can try over the counter medications, but if the wart gets bigger or worse than you should take your dog to your local vet.
Scissors.
If you try to remove the dog’s wart at home, you could cause it to get an infection. If you don’t want to risk your dogs life, save up money to have the vet remove the wart, or just let it go.
You could try an old wives tail first.
1. Tie a hair around the wart
2. Wash it with holy water
3. Make a poultice from sage and apply it to the affected area
4. My favorite: Cut a potato in half. Rub the wart with half of the potato. Bury the potato in the light of a full moon. As the potato decays, so will the wart.
But, if your vet is recommending the wart come off, you should fork over the money before it becomes something more serious. I had a friend whose dog died of cancer. You don’t want to go through that. Do what’s best for your dog.
See if you can maybe have a yardsale or sell something on eBay to make some extra money to pay for the procedure.
Good luck!
It doesn’t sound like a wart. The Vet can completely remove it and make sure its not cancer.
If it is a papilloma, then wait until your dog has 5 or more and you can crush them. Your dog will be immune to them for life. You can use pliers to crush the warts. Unless they are unsightly, infected or somehow disturbing your dog then you can wait and they may go away on their own.
If your vet has not verified that they are papillomas, then take your dog in for a biopsy. You want to make sure it isn’t cancer, papillomas are not cancerous.
