I too have a wart right on the edge of a fingernail. I'm going to have a physician freeze the wart off, as I don't trust over-the-counter wart-remover preparations.

I had a wart on my finger for a few years, and it was really annoying. I tried different over-the-counter remedies, from freezing it off to using salicylic acid, but nothing worked. Finally, I googled home remedies and decided to try using apple cider vinegar. A lot of people raved about it, but I was skeptical because it sounded like such an unsophisticated remedy. I thought, "Aren't cures for those kinds of things supposed to be expensive?" hehe

Anyway, I didn't have any apple cider vinegar, but I did have white vinegar, so I tried that. All I did was tape a small piece of toilet paper doused in vinegar to the wart (although you probably could use a band-aid or some cotton instead) and leave it on overnight. It stung a little after being on so long, but it was tolerable (it was more like a dull numbness). Within two days, I tore the wart off, and it hasn't come back since! In fact, there isn't even any evidence of a scar!

I called my friend who had lots of warts on his hands and "tried everything," and he told me that all of his went away within a week when he took penicillin for something else.
