Does the HPV strain that causes genital warts ever go away for good?

I hear different answers.. some say it stays in your body for a life time and others say that your immune system takes care of it and it goes away in 2 years.

No! It will stay in your body forever… People can be infected with HPV and never show any symptoms. Others will develop genital warts. These warts can stay the same size, grow, or go away on their own. It largely depends on the infected person’s immune system. A healthy immune system means your body may be able to suppress the virus and not show symptoms.
Even after the warts go away, the person will always remain infected with HPV. That person can spread the virus even without showing symptoms.
SO! genital warts appears when your immune system is weak! so you must build up your immune system because your body can get rid of genital warts by itself if your immune system will be strong! so eat more healthy food, more vitamins and more sport activities!

uhm, from what I heard once you have genital warts you can get it back at any time?
that they could spring back up. but I’m not doctor. if you want to make sure you’re getting the right answers, i’d consult your doc.
HPV never leaves your body completely. Your body may take care of the warts, but they can reoccur because you will still have the virus.
Okay, here’s the truth:
Within 2 years, the virus will be reduced to indectable levels in your body. Does it every fully go away? NO ONE KNOWS. A lot of doctors say no, but the truth is they really have any proof that your body cannot rid itself og HPV entirely. Viruses can live in your body forever, so it’s completely possible you will have it forever. But some recent studies have shown that your body may be able to rid yourself of it entirely.
Can you pass on the virus once it at indetectable levels? No one knows. Again, most say yes, which is probably a good guess because HPV is really common. On the other hand, I once had a wart (caused by HPV) on my hand as a child. I still go around shaking people’s hands. I still have the chicken pox virus in my system, but I don’t go around infecting people with it.
One thing is for sure: if the virus remains in your system, it can "reactivate" and again cause problems and be able to be detected. If this happens, you can definitely pass it on. Just like chicken pox which can reactivate and cause shingles. A person with shingles is contageous. So even if you have a negative HPV test, it’s possible that the virus can come back with out producing symptoms. Then you could definitely pass it on.

The virus can be suppressed by your immune system after about two years and it wont show up in tests after that. However it could come back after a few years it all depends on the person
